The High School Track Program starts up on April 7th this year. This 8-week introductory track bike racing program for students in grades seven through twelve is for those who would like to experience the thrill of high-speed cycling on an Olympic-style velodrome. Sessions in the spring will be Monday and Tuesday afternoon at 3:45 and the lead instructor is USA Cycling Category 1 Coach Steve Thordarson. Details can be found at

This will include proper track etiquette, group skills, track race descriptions tactics, and much more. The flyer for the 2008 event will be posted shortly, for now take a look at the 2007 flyer and get ready.

One of the exciting new developments at the Velodrome this year will be the improvement and expansion of the Monday and Tuesday night training sessions. A variety of non-competitive programs will be held, including pace line riding, acceleration training, sprinting drills, motor pacing, and simulated races. Instruction will be offered in skills such as time trial starts (useful on the road as well as the Velodrome), match sprint tactics, velodrome etiquette, track lingo, Madison exchanges, team time trials, and sprint finishes.
